What is hydroponic cultivation?

In general, the definition of a hydroponic cultivation can be explained as one that, instead of taking advantage of a cultivation methodology using traditional irrigation soil,uses mineral solutions preparedin an irrigation system created specifically for the cultivation space.
With the New Garden System this space is available in several modalities, allowing users to choose between enjoying their own growing table, vertical gardens and complete urban gardens for dozens of plants, fruits and flowers, all without barely using one square meter.

Urban gardens for hydroponic cultivation

The various homegardeningoptions offered by the New Garden Systemare based on MyPot modules, that hydroponics works on, to achieve the maximum profitability of the irrigation system.
MyPot modules are attractive cultivation spaces, where it is possible to independently place each plant, vegetable or flower. They allow continuous growth based on the placement of upper modules, thus achieving extraordinarily beautiful vertical gardens.
In each MyPot module itis possible to include up to 8 different plants. Inside the prepared space there is ecological perlite and a reserve tank capable of storing up to 4 litres of water and nutrients based on a nutrient solution called My Ferti Pot.
The hydroponic system is based on a recirculation pump that moves the water to the upper parts of your urban garden.

  • Micra recirculation pump: It allows irrigation directed to the upper My Pot module up to a height of 55 cm.
  • Nova recirculation pump: It allows a diversified irrigation towards the upper My Pot modules up to 100 cm. (occupying 1 tank module + 3 My Pot modules)
  • Idra recirculation pump: It allows irrigation to upper My Pot modules up to a height of 180 cm. (the space of 1 tank module + 5 My Pot modules)

Hydroponic cultivation step by step

Hydroponic cultivation consists in programming of the irrigation of each module depending on different variables. The climate, the type of plant and the number of cultivated plants are the main factors that must be taken into account.
MyPot modules will tell the user if there is enough water and nutrients to maintain
a continuous irrigation system. The only thing you have to do is make sure that there are enough components to make everything work perfectly.
Once the irrigation programming has been completed, the system uses the recirculation pumps to supply the necessary water to each MyPot module.
Here are some general guidelines on how to programme this hydroponic cultivation:
During the first weeks: At first it is advisable to schedule a water recirculation at least every two hours, until we notice that the plants have taken root in the interior.
For indoor plants: A growing table or a vertical garden can be placed indoors or outdoors, but in the first case you have to choose suitable plants. In addition to being indoor plants, they require a specific irrigation cycle every 12 or 24 hours.
For the outdoor planting of vegetables, medicinal and ornamental plants: In these cases we recommend to differentiate between summer months, in which case it is better to irrigate every 1-2 hours, and cold months, in which case we would opt for an irrigation cycle every 24 hours.

Advantages of hydroponic cultivation

Hydroponicsoffers many advantages. It is best for you to discover them by yourself during the daily growth of your plants and flowers. But even if only by way of summary, here are the main advantages of having this cultivation system:
Hydroponic cultivation is economical, saving up to 90% compared to other traditional cultivation methods. It is mainly achieved because the watertight system is recirculated and the only loss is through the plants’ leaves by evaporation, a system known as "evapotranspiration".
It also provides economic savings as it
optimises the use of fertilizers. The hydroponic cultivation system in the MyPot modules is done in a closed manner. Thus the nutrients are not vanished or lost without being used.
Another advantage of the hydroponic cultivation system that has already been mentioned is the
little space required. In less than a square meter it is possible to have the whole system in operation, while traditional cultivation soil requires much more space.
In addition, we can make it grow by adhering vertical modules, without increasing horizontal space.
It requires less time, since almost the whole system works automatically when it is programmed. Users only have to maintain the programming and the amount of water and nutrients, allowing the cultivation system to find the best balance to ensure the optimal growth of the plants.
In addition,
the resulting crops are of the best quality. On the one hand the presence and consequence of pests, parasites, viruses or bacteria is greatly reduced. Meanwhile, a clean and hygienic crop is achieved, an ecological option that both your home and the environment will be grateful for.
